After a survey of all general contractors in the Virgin Islands, AT&T Submarine Systems selected Benton Construction to build the first fiber optic cable landing station in St. Croix.  This 20,000 SF masonry and structural steel building was completed in six months and included numerous sophisticated and highly redundant systems to support the 24/7/365 telecommunications operation.  In addition, Benton Construction also constructed a colocation building and a manager’s residence nestled around the ruins of a historic sugar mill.
