Dormitories and Admin. Buildings

Services Provided:

General Contractor

Project Completed:

August 1997

Approximate Cost:

$7.3 Million

Architect:

Diaz & Associates

This 45,000 SF complex includes three dormitory structures designed to house 76 students, an administration building and an ancillary building housing a student cafeteria, full commercial kitchen, indoor and outdoor auditorium, bookstore, student activity center and campus maintenance.  The project was publicly bid, yielding bids ranging from $10 million to $11.5 million, which was substantially over budget.  Benton was subsequently invited to value engineer the project and was successful in reducing the cost to $7.3 million dollars without impacting the aesthetics, square footage or building systems, effectively salvaging the project for UVI.
