Manage and direct all aspects of construction field operations, to include (but not limited to) people, functions, and teams responsible for completing production and program requirements involving construction. The role of the Director of Field Operations is to execute operations to include plan refinement, construction field office management, warehouse management (including construction vehicles maintenance), safety program, purchasing (procurement) and finance, construction staff assignments, vendor/subcontractor arrangements. The Director is responsible for planning and implementing the master construction schedule to meet deadlines and to provide executive support to all Superintendents.

  • Responsible for all Policies and Procedures for the Construction Field Operations Department.
  • Perform other duties as required by business needs and requested by the President.
  • Coordinates all facets of field construction to meet overall organizational goals.
  • Manages interdepartmental communications and meetings.
  • Manages staff development and performance standards for Construction Field Operations Department.
  • Ensures appropriate use of human resources, targets need for staff increases, decreases and/or position changes to manage a smooth and efficient Construction Field Operations Department.
  • Responsible for cost accounting, budget management and analysis for Construction Field Operations Department.
  • Manages subcontractor procurement process to achieve the highest quality and performance by subcontractors at the best possible prices.
  • Oversees Materials Procurement to ensure quality, cost, warehousing, inventories, maintenance and logistics are appropriately managed.
  • Overall responsibility for managing issues of job site safety, job site security for people and equipment and construction quality.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position oversees all field operations staff, materials and logistics, equipment, procurement and management of subcontractors, and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of employees in those areas.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 pm. This position regularly requires long hours and weekend work.

Required Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years in Construction Management with increasing levels of responsibility
  • Bachelor of Science in Construction Management Field or Engineering preferred
  • Residential or commercial Contracting License preferred
  • Proven ability to manage a high-production construction schedule with multiple deadlines, in-house and outside resources and interdepartmental coordination.
  • Experience in negotiating and managing subcontracts.
  • Experience in working with planning documents, some design experience helpful.
  • Demonstrated planning and organizational skills, including the ability to anticipate tasks, set priorities, meet deadlines, and function smoothly under strict deadlines and shifting priorities.
  • Computer literacy with demonstrated experience in Microsoft Office Project (Word, Excel),
  • Self-perform experience or background is highly preferred.
