WAPA Midland Substation Project Profile

Gregory E. Willocks Substation

St. Croix, USVI

J. Benton Construction was the civil and building contractor for this electrical substation and subsequent site extension. The building contains 25 kV switchgear as well as 69 kV gas insulated switchgear (GIS) and a control room with relay panels. This 69 kV transmission line connects underground to the Richmond Substation and is the first true transmission circuit in Virgin Islands history. We constructed an underground vault as well as extensive site duct banks and cable trenches designed in the slab. The project also includes an indoor overhead crane.
