James Benton

James has been a resident of St. Croix since 1987. Graduating from Wentworth Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management, he founded J. Benton Construction in 2006. As President, he has overall responsibility for the company’s direction and profitability. Having managed over $500 million in construction over the last 20 years he has acquired a wide range of experience working on projects ranging from hotels, casinos, an assisted living facility, luxury apartment complexes, restaurants, office buildings, warehouses, utility projects, conference centers, distilleries, civil projects, vacation ownership and telecommunications facilities. Prior to founding J. Benton Construction, James served as President and Vice President of Benton Construction Company, Inc. since 2001.  He is an alumnus of the Harvard Graduate School of Design having completed their Advanced Management Development Program in Real Estate.  James is also Vice  Chairman of the Good Hope Country Day School, Board Member of Merchant’s Commercial Bank and sits on the board of Twin City Island Spirits, Inc. (Mutiny Island Vodka).
